Weekend Warriers.....yet again

We have been in the process of tearing out the old planter in the front of our house for a couple of weeks now. Nothing would grow in it and it was full of bugs. We were able to knock most the the brick out with a sledge hammer, only to find a concrete slab on the bottom. Matt rented a jack hammer this weekend and pulled it all up. Now we just need to figure out what kind of plants to plant!!!'
BTW - Matt said the jackhammer rental was the best $50 he has ever spent.

Ta-Dah, use your imagination.....picture shrubs and pretty flowers!

  2. If you get good morning sun and afternoon shade, my horticultural reccommendation is azaleas. Ours have performed very well so far and they're a pretty low-maintenance plant with a big payoff in the bloom department. I think 3 or 4 good 3-gallon plants would suffice for the space you have. I would border the bed with liriope and put some perennials down front, if you have the room.
